Hope After Hurt: The Healing Power of Forgiveness

Suzanne Freedman
All your life you’re told forgiveness is for you. But we’re never told why it’s for you. It means you’re working on owning your life.

Forgiveness is nothing less than the way we heal the world. We heal the world by healing each and every one of our hearts. The process is simple, but it is not easy.

Hope After Hurt: The Healing Power of Forgiveness

A blog by Suzanne Freedman

In this blog post, I will discuss why I believe choosing to forgive can offer individuals who have experienced the trauma of child abuse or sexual assault hope of healing and the power to move beyond their abuse... It is my hope that this essay brings you one step closer to healing. Whether forgiveness becomes part of your journey today, months from now, or years in the future, remember that you are more than what happened to you. The injustice you experienced is part of your story, but it is not your whole story. The belief that forgiveness and healing are possible, even after deep, personal, and unfair hurt illustrates hope for a better future. Know that you are not alone in your journey and that others are walking alongside you.
